About the Journal
The Northern Review is a peer-reviewed open access journal publishing research, commentaries, reports, and book reviews that explore human experience in, and thought about, the North, including the territorial and provincial Norths of Canada and the Circumpolar North. We also invite submissions from emerging, early career, and established northern scholars concerning topics that may not be focused on the North.
The journal is published online (occasionally in print) at the Yukon University School of Social Sciences and Humanities in Whitehorse, Canada, within the Traditional Territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
We follow a double anonymous peer-review process, and follow equity, diversity & inclusion policies in peer review. Referees for manuscripts concerning Indigenous Peoples or topics include Indigenous scholars / Knowledge Holders from the geographic region and/or who are experts in the field.
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND licence.
Readers are not required to register or subscribe to access content, but your support is valuable & appreciated. Please consider taking a minute to register.
